The vision of the Northern Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children
is to insure that every young child in Northern Virginia has access to excellent care and to
excellent education. The mission of the Northern Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children
is to provide excellent educational services, information, and resources
to the citizens of Northern Virginia for the benefit of young children. To fulfill its
mission, NVAEYC will:
- Act as an advocate for young children and their families;
- Foster professional development of those serving in early childhood settings;
- Recognize and celebrate a variety of developmentally appropriate learning
settings for young children;
- Invite and sustain a thriving and diverse membership.
The goal of the Northern Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children is to have a positive
influence in impacting the quality of services rendered young children and their
families.
There are three avenues NVAEYC has identified to achieve this goal. NVAEYC is
committed to:
- Offering professional development opportunities to those serving in the field of early
childhood education through conferences, workshops, newsletters, leadership seminars, and resource
materials;
- Raising public awareness as to the necessity for:
(1) age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate education and;
(2) high quality care in meeting the needs of both young children and their families;
- Providing leadership and advocacy to the community by identifying and responding to issues related to
the needs, rights, and well being of young children and their families.
